A friend recently stopped by my Fayetteville, Arkansas studio to update her professional headshots, and it ended up being one of those easy, fun sessions that remind me why I love studio work so much.

We started by working through outfits—changing tops, layers, and textures—to see what felt the most her. We also experimented with background colors, adding a blue backdrop for a pop of color and a fun twist on a more traditional headshot. Add a little wine for relaxation and a comfortable chair, and by the end, and by the end we had a set of images that could live comfortably across LinkedIn, websites, and marketing materials.
Studio headshots don’t have to feel stiff or intimidating. With simple lighting, a clean backdrop, and a little guidance, the process can feel relaxed—and even fun. The goal is always the same: professional images that still feel like a real person on their best day.
If it’s been a while since you’ve updated your headshot—or if your current photo no longer feels like you—my Fayetteville studio is a great place to start. Sometimes all it takes is an hour, a few outfit changes, and a fresh perspective.
