Catching up on photoshoots from the first half of 2018

I think I’m just in the phase of life called busy. Sometimes I don’t know how I’m going to fit everything in, but I get to the end of each month and I’m able to meet all my deadlines with clients and still be a mom to a cute 12-year-old boy. The two places I seem to always fall behind are on social media, and blogging… and I would say it’s from not making it a priority. Something has to give, and those two things seems to be the last on my list. It’s sort of a double edge sword because I have to realize that I can’t do everything, but those two things are probably two of the more important things for gaining new clients.

Being a photographer is an interesting balance. I can shoot all day, every day, but I have to leave time enough to edit images, invoice, communicate with clients, put images out on social media and take action to keep growing my business. Someone once told me what you don’t do today puts you behind a year… so that’s a little bit disheartening. I do my best to push things out when I can, and I’m working hard to create better habits. I know I will fail at keeping images current no matter how hard I try, but it’s a goal and maybe one day I will find the balance to be a super human and get everything accomplished. Or maybe I will slack at social media and blogging and spend my time off fly fishing on a river… or mountain biking. You’ll have to check my Instagram stories to find out.

This has been a really fun year shooting. I’ve spent the last several years working toward shooting the types of images I love, and refining what I do as a photographer. It’s been a year full of advertising, interiors, editorial and commercial photography. Lots of portraits, food, interiors and even some animals. Looking back through my archive, I have a year full of images to share so I’ve tried to get things organized to show what I’ve been working on since the beginning of 2018.

Let me start of by saying the chefs at Tyson Foods are amazing people. I worked with them on an advertising campaign for BITE NW Arkansas, and had such a fun time creating these images.

I’ve also had quite a few editorial features this year including assignments for At Home in Arkansas, Arkansas Life, the Wall Street Journal, Corporate Council Magazine and the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal. They’ve  had me photographing food and people in their environments all over Northwest Arkansas, and I’ve had such a great time meeting everyone, sharing their space and hearing their stories.
