Exciting New Gear and Golf Photography Adventures: My Journey with the Nikon D3

I finally did it—I broke down and invested in a Nikon D3! After months of saving my pennies and contemplating between the D300 and the D3, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Shooting the recent Arkansas game with the D300 helped solidify my choice, and now I’m ready to take my photography to the next level. Woo hoo for new gear!

But enough about my camera excitement; let’s dive into the world of golf! Photographing golf events is always a unique experience. The atmosphere is different from other sports—it’s all about being quiet, standing still, and timing your shots perfectly to capture those decisive moments without disturbing the players.

One of my favorite shots from the day was the classic “trophy” shot. This image captures the essence of victory and the pride of the athletes, showcasing their hard work and dedication.

Another highlight was getting to photograph local favorite Stacy Lewis. Her impressive skills and determination always draw a crowd, and it was thrilling to capture her in action.

Every golf photographer knows the importance of that quintessential “checking the wind” shot. It’s a rite of passage to capture the golfer as they assess the conditions before making their crucial swing.

And I can’t forget the lighter moments from the event! I had to upload the hilarious photos that my friend April snapped of me at the tournament. My makeshift setup—a trash bag, sharpie, and duct tape—became a running joke among us. Who knew I could create such a fun DIY look while capturing the spirit of the day?

I’m excited to share more of my photography adventures and the amazing moments I capture along the way. Stay tuned for more updates and insights from the field!
