Capturing Tradition: Product Photography for Little Rock Crate & Basket Co. in Arkansas

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of diving into a product photography session for a family business that’s close to my heart: Little Rock Crate & Basket Co., located right here in Little Rock, Arkansas. The shoot was all about baskets—baskets, baskets, and more baskets! These shots are being prepped for the company’s website, and I was thrilled to play a role in helping showcase their handmade craftsmanship.

Whenever I visit the mill, I’m instantly transported back in time. Not much has changed over the years, and it’s that timeless, family-run atmosphere that makes it so special. I always feel a bit like the kid I once was, wandering through the stacks of crates and baskets that have been a staple of our family for generations. There’s something nostalgic and grounding about being there—it’s a reminder of the enduring quality and tradition that defines this business.

Today’s shoot was all about capturing the beauty and craftsmanship of each basket. These aren’t just ordinary products; each basket is carefully crafted with attention to detail that reflects decades of expertise. The textures, the hand-woven patterns, and the natural materials make them a joy to photograph. My goal was to highlight these elements, so customers can see the quality that sets Little Rock Crate & Basket Co. apart.

Product photography might seem straightforward, but there’s always a creative challenge in bringing out the personality of each piece. The lighting, angles, and even the background can make all the difference in telling the story of a product. For these baskets, I wanted to emphasize the craftsmanship that’s been passed down through generations, as well as the practicality and beauty they bring to homes and businesses alike.

It’s always fun to return to the mill and contribute to a family legacy that has been a part of Little Rock’s history for so many years. Here are a couple of shots from today’s session that I think capture the essence of the products. I’m excited to see how they’ll look on the website and how they’ll help bring new customers to a business that means so much to our family.

Whether you’re looking for something to add a touch of charm to your home or need sturdy crates for practical use, Little Rock Crate & Basket Co. has something for everyone. Keep an eye out for the new website updates, and if you’re ever in Little Rock, stop by to experience the craftsmanship for yourself!

Baskets? Who knew? We should get our families together. My family can fill your family’s baskets with organic coffee. Coffee Baskets… “Arkanss Coffee Baskets”, I think I just found my million dollar idea. Don’t tell anyone, it’s mine.
